A True Brother’s Approach to Interpersonal Development

The True Interpersonal Development (True ID) educational curriculum is a comprehensive approach to providing chapters with the necessary tools to manage contemporary issues brothers and associates encounter. Lambda Chi Alpha faces a myriad of issues and challenges specific to the appropriate approach our men should use when interacting with others. The philosophical foundation of True ID builds upon the Seven Core Values of Lambda Chi Alpha by continually developing our brothers' interpersonal skills through experience-based and interactive education. True ID, both in concept and implementation, is another Lambda Chi Alpha program under the True Brother umbrella that remains consistent with the concepts our rituals and emblems teach.

There are four programs in True ID, each aimed at a particular social challenge for our undergraduates. They will all have the same structure, namely:

                                        • Awareness
                                        • Relationships
                                        • Understanding
                                        • Mentoring
The outcome we desire for all four programs is the same — RESPECTFUL UNDERSTANDING. We are not attempting, for example, to convince our undergraduate chapters to recruit men of any certain religious belief, but instead want to enable the individual brother to approach a personal development milestone where they can respect and understand different races, cultures and lifestyles.

The four programs listed below will be focused on how these topics affect interpersonal relationships, and how the True Brother can respectfully understand and react to those conditions:

                                        • Gender Issues – The Dynamic between Men & Women
                                        • Sexual Orientation – The Gay/Straight Dynamic
                                        • Race & Culture – The Melting Pot Reaches the Chapter
                                        • Faith & Spirituality – Differences Between Religions, and Differences within a Religion
